QUACK QUACK QUACK QUACK
Now that hockey season is in full form TFR is gonna take you for another spin on the ol' nostalgia machine. This month we're playing 1992's THE MIGHTY DUCKS!
Gordon Bombay (EMILIO!), a hotshot lawyer, is haunted by memories of his childhood, when, as the star player in his champion hockey team, he lost the winning goal in a shootout, thereby losing the game, and the approval of his coach. After being charged for drunk driving, the court orders him to coach a peewee hockey team, the worst in the league, Gordon is at first very reluctant. However, he eventually gains the respect of the kids and teaches them how to win, gaining a sponsor on the way and giving the team the name of The Ducks. - IMDB
Musical guest for the evening's preshow our old pals GHOST FACTORY!
“The first songs of Tales of a Nothing Kid, the latest by Ghost Factory, begin with a pretty dance of fingers along a set of five-strings. It’s definitely folk. But when the pace hastens it’s easy to tell something big is coming. The tempo quickens with a cue of the drum-kick, and then comes the grimy vocals. Blimey! It’s punk. Folk-punk, to be precise. Intelligent folk-punk! The drumsticks tick, tick, tick, creating a bed for the initial lick, and the lyrics wow you. It’s like putting all this jumbled, pent-up disdain of the mind into strands of words that actually make sense. “ - Hannah Many Guns Beatroute Magazine
